Traditional Japanese cuisine, or “ Washoku, ” is being praised by European chefs.

The Japan Food Product Overseas Promotion Center (JFOODO) ran “FOODIES LOVE JAPAN” promotional campaigns in October and December to promote the appeal of Japanese food culture among foreign visitors to Japan, with the aim of expanding exports of Japanese agricultural, forestry, marine, and food products.

JETRO held the Japanese food fair "Japan Fair 2023" from November 2nd to 12th at three Aeon Mall stores that are certified in Japanese food support stores program in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) is going to exhibit at Manga Barcelona, for promoting the appeal of Japanese food to anime fans in Spain.

“Washoku World Challenge” is a Japanese cuisine competition organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan for non-Japanese chefs who are deeply interested in Japanese cuisine and who are eager to improve their knowledge and skills.

On March 16, 2023, the ban on the import of Japanese polished rice to Mexico was lifted. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Embassy of Japan in Mexico and JETRO jointly held a workshop on Japanese polished rice.

On February 27 (Mon) and February 28 (Tue), 2023 the Final Tournament of the “Washoku World Challenge”, a Japanese cuisine competition organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan for non-Japanese chefs, was held in Tokyo. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, six finalists from the Regional Qualifying Tournaments held in Paris, New York, and Singapore, and the Online Qualifying Tournament their skills as they competed for two days. Taking first place was Mr. Jakub HORÁK (Yamato Japanese Restaurant in the Czech Republic).
