Japanese Cooking Class lectured by ‘Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador’ was held in Bangkok!

On February 9, 2017, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries held a cooking class called “A Cooking Class for Japanese Cuisine / Japanese Food Culture” at Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand.

The number of applicants wishing to participate in the class exceeded the initially planned number of 100. On the day of the event, approximately a total of 120 people participated in the class including students of a cooking school, restaurant staff, people in the procurement / retail fields, and those from media.

The class was led by Takuji Takahashi, the third owner of a Kyoto cuisine restaurant called KINOBU and Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador (appointed in February, 2016), who delivered the beauty of Japan-made food ingredients through his cooking performance in the class using wagyu beef, yellowtail fish, scallops, etc. (he cooked the dishes again). After the class, the participants were allowed to relish the dishes made by Takahashi. There was also a workshop on Japanese tea.

The participants were enthusiastically taking notes and listening to the lecturer, while they enjoyed dishes that are cooked with the focus on enhancing the original flavors of ingredients.

The event highlighted the future possibility of Japanese cuisines in Thailand.
