This award-winning junmai variation has clinched both the Fine Sake Award 2023 Gold Medal and IWC 2023 Junmai Category Gold Medal. Aromas of sour cream, mushrooms, cacao, and fresh coffee beans emanate from its complex bouquet. Enjoy a well-balanced interplay between rich sweetness and acidity, and savour the lingering umami aftertaste, which evolves with temperature changes.
Mie Sake No. 18, known as Kaminoho, ranks among the elite rice varieties for sake brewing. Born from the crossbreeding of Echigo-Nan No. 165 and Chubu-Shu No. 97 (Yumesansui), it was developed in 2007 and officially registered in 2010. Praised for its high yield and resistance against rice collapse, this strain produces sake with a gentle, enduring umami profile.
About the Sake brewery:
Since its founding in 1846, Miyazak Honten has stood by the principle of "Quality First" in Kusu-cho, Yokkaichi-city. As a longstanding fixture, the brewery preserves cultural heritage, traditional brewing, and unique sake profiles. Yet, it recognises the need for innovation to align with the new era.
In June 2018, the brewery completed a new kura (brewery building), pivoting towards smaller-scale preparation methods compared to its previous larger-scale approach. This transition enables Miyazakihonten to explore new tastes while preserving its traditional flavours. Resolute in the quest for excellence, the brewery remains committed to enhancing product quality while offering adaptations suitable for the modern age.
